The Women of St. Charles Borromeo, 211 Hardy Ave., Nederland, will be hosting its 18th Annual Scriptural Rosary and Mass with May Crowning of Mary at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9. This year is the 100th anniversary of Mary appearing to the three shepherd children at Fatima, Portugal. All children are invited to participate in the Crowning of Mary. Men 16 years and older are invited to a free Vocations Retreat April 7-9 at St. Joseph Abbey and Seminary College in Covington, La. The retreat is about how to discern God’s call for your life. Saddle up for serious ropin’, ridin’ and racin’ at the 80th Annual Our Mother of Mercy Church in Ames Easter Rodeo Weekend, partner. Follow the sounds of bulls braying, kids playing and zydeco swaying to the Liberty County TVE Fairgrounds April 15–16. Saturday, April 15, is calf roping day. The tie down competition begins at 10 a.m. Pee wee, junior, old-timer and senior competition is on tap. Sunday put on your best boots and mosey on down for rodeo action beginning at 3 p.m. Major events include tie down roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, ladies barrel racing, ladies steer un-decorating and bare back bronc riding. Watch younger cowboys and cowgirls compete in mutton bustin’, calf ridin’, steer ridin’ and junior bull riding. Younger buckaroos will enjoy the Giant Easter Egg Hunt. At 6:30 p.m., Brian Jack and the Zydeco Gamblers crank up the boot scootin’ zydeco. Tickets are available at the gate. Adult tickets are $15 a day. Children from age 5 -12 tickets are $5. St. Mary Altar Society will be having its Annual Garage Sale on Saturday, April 28 in the parish hall, 9894 Gilbert in Fannett. The sale hours are 7 a.m.-1 p.m. The sale features household items, women’s fashion accessories and much more. Bargain hunters will find something for everyone. The Seniors/The Third Age will have a 25th Anniversary celebration on Tuesday, May 16. This event will be held at Our lady of Assumption, 4445 Ave. A, Beaumont, beginning at 9:15 a.m. with the Living Rosary followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Curtis J. Guillory, SVD. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by calling Sandy Harrison at (409) 718-5509.
A 12 Day Marian Shrines Pilgrimage Portugal, France and Spain, Barcelona, Lourdes, Burgops, Santiago De Compostela, Fatima, Avila with Spiritual Director Father Sinclair Oubre, pastor St. Francis of Assisi Parish-Orange is June 5-June 16, 2017.
