Sponsored by Region X of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

Hosted by the Archdiocese of San Antonio and the Black Catholic Apostolate

Mission Statement: The Unity Explosion Conference will provide an experience that addresses the expressed ministerial, pastoral, evangelization, and liturgical needs of the participant.

History of Unity Explosion

Unity Explosion began as a gathering in 1989 in Dallas with the vision to liturgically recognize, embrace, and share the gifts that American Catholics of African descent bring to the universal church. The mission of the conference has grown to provide an experience that addresses the expressed leadership, ministerial, catechetical, liturgical and evangelization needs of families, particularly those of African descent.History of Unity Explosion

The pre-conference event to Unity Explosion is the Roderick J. Bell Institute for African American Sacred Music and will occur June 6-7. This 15-hour institute provides musicians, ministers of music, and those interested in music as a ministry with a forum for professional and spiritual growth, new music presentations, as well as networking opportunities.

The Unity Explosion Conference will open with the celebration of the Eucharist at St. Joseph’s (Downtown) Church on Thursday, June 7, at 7 p.m. The conference will offer special tracks for everyone, including our next generations of tiny tots, youth, and young adults. To learn more, contact Carol White at (210) 532-5358 or by e-mail cfwhite1982@gmail.com.
