A golden opportunity to celebrate the Catholic faith
It will be a time to gather in community and to celebrate a shared faith of 50 years – and more!
Plan to join in the celebration of Mass and the birthday party that follows for the 50th birthday of the Diocese of Beaumont at 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18, at Ford Park, Beaumont.
“It is a time to give thanks and praise to Almighty God,” Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, said. “It is a time to recall and celebrate the faith.”
The celebration will be an opportunity to join friends and family from across Southeast Texas as one community, a vibrant illustration of the one church that is the Diocese of Beaumont.
“Not only is everyone a part of the local church by faith, through their participation as volunteers in different ministries we are all joined as one community in Christ,” Bishop Guillory said.
Members of the faith community from throughout Southeast Texas are invited and encouraged to be a part of this special celebration of the Mass and birthday party that will follow.
“To gather this day will give the opportunity for people to see the larger church,” Bishop Guillory said. “Many people only participate on the parish level, their local faith family. This day is a time to see the whole diocese come together.”
The Mass will be multicultural, with many of the cultures that make up Southeast Texas represented. A 55-member choir made up of representatives from many of the parishes in the diocese will lead the singing.
And though Bishop Guillory will be the main celebrant, he will be joined on the altar by visiting bishops and other clergy.
Among those invited are Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston and the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Christophe Pierre.
