The Funeral Mass for Father Duc Duong will be at 10 am, Friday, November 12, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont. Father Duc died Saturday, November 6. Bishop David Toups will be celebrant with the priests of the diocese concelebrating. Father Khanh Ho will be the homilist. Burial will follow at Greenlawn in Groves. His visitation will be Thursday, November 11, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica beginning with the reception of the body at 2 pm by Father Andy Moore, pastor of Infant Jesus and St. Mark the Evangelist where Father Duc was parochial vicar. A sharing of memories will be at 4 pm led by Father Khue Bui and a vigil at 5 pm with Father Luong Tran. Duc Quang Duong was born in Vietnam November 2, 1958, one of several children. One of his older brothers is also a priest and he has a younger sister who is a religious sister. Duc attended minor seminary at Hoan Thien, Hue, from 1971 to 1979. He escaped from Vietnam by boat and lived in refugee camps in Hong Kong and in the Philippines. Father Khanh Ho helped him come to the United States with five other seminarians in 1993. After attending seminary at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, he was ordained to the priesthood at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica on June 10, 2000, by Most Rev. Gregory Aymond, Auxiliary Bishop of New Orleans. Bishop Aymond was the rector of Notre Dame Seminary and the Diocese of Beaumont was in between Bishops – Bishop Joseph Galante was already in Dallas and Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, wasn’t installed until July 2000. Over the past 21 years Father Duc served as parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena in Port Arthur, parochial administrator at St. Joseph in Beaumont, pastor at St. Catherine and then chaplain at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. He was assigned as parochial vicar of Infant Jesus, Lumberton, and St. Mark the Evangelist, Silsbee, in July 2014 where he served until his death. View More Images
