Closing of the Holy Door

“We must transform this world in the likeness of the kingdom of God,” said Bishop Curtis J. Guillory, SVD, as he began his homily at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica on Nov. 20, for the Solemn Pontifical Mass and closing of the Holy Door of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy.

The Sacred Holy Door Brick of St. Peter’s Basilica, sealed in the Vatican’s Holy Door at the end of the Great Jubilee of 2000 by St. Pope John Paul II and extracted from the same Holy Door by Pope Francis at the beginning of the Extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy, was sealed in the Cathedral Basilica’s Holy Door Lintel by Bishop Guillory.
