Father Sands discusses education, service during visit

Father Henry Sands, executive director of the Black and Indian Mission, visited students at schools in the Diocese of Beaumont March 1.

Father Sands discussed the importance of education and serving others during his visits to St. Mary Catholic School, Orange; St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School, Port Arthur; and St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School, Beaumont.

The Mission Office has provided tuition assistance for students at these schools. A second collection to benefit the Black and Indian Mission is set for March 10.

Father Sands is scheduled to serve as the homilist for the Mass March 1 at Sacred Heart Church, Port Arthur, celebrating St. Katharine Drexel’s ministry. The Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD.
