You can take the kids out of youth ministry, but you can’t take youth ministry out of the now-grown-up kids.
The young and young-at-heart gathered at the 50th Diocesan Youth Convention Reunion Aug. 6. Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, celebrated Mass at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, welcoming all who had been involved and those still involved in youth ministry.
“I hope as we gather today that it rallies a time of faith renewal, a time of inspiration and a greater appreciation of that wonderful gift of our Catholic faith,” said Bishop Guillory. “We just had convention and we had almost a thousand kids there. For me, it served as an inspiration at adoration. Almost a thousand kids were in the presence of Christ and most of them were on their knees the whole hour. There was so much faith. Those kids will remember that moment with Jesus as I’m sure you all remember those moments in your life as you come together with old friends this evening at the reunion.”
A reception followed where award-recipients and diocesan youth board members throughout the last five decades were recognized.
