Since 2002, it has been required by Bishop Guillory that all Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion attend the Office of Worship workshop for this ministry, in addition to their parish training, before Bishop will give his permission for them to be commissioned. Furthermore, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are to attend this workshop every three years as long as they are in this ministry to keep abreast of current guidelines.
