2008 Bishop's Faith Appeal

Each year more than 110,000 of those living in Southeast Texas are touched by Catholic Charities and 18 diocesan ministries supported by Bishop's Faith Appeal. Each parish and mission in the diocese is served by the works of several of these ministries.

Youth Ministry

Offers spiritual, educational, social and recreational activities for teenagers and provides guidance and training for parish youth ministers.

Hispanic Ministry

Outreach is provided to the 60,000 Hispanics now living in Southeast Texas.

Criminal Justice Ministry

Provides pastoral care, sacramental ministry and faith formation to the nearly 28,500 inmates incarcerated in Southeast Texas.

Family Life Ministry

Offers programs to enrich, heal, educate and assist your family and all types of families through programs such as To Marry for Life and Natural Family Planning.

Lifelong Catholic Formation/Education

Each year about 1,300 catechists and directors of religious education are trained, who then help your children and teenagers learn about their Catholic faith.

Apostleship of the Sea

Sacraments are made available to the 25,0000 merchant mariners who visit our ports each year.

Diaconate

Supports formation and education of Deacons. In our diocese, deacons serve in prison ministry, assist with parish care and hospital ministry.
