During the next year, the Office of Worshop will offer Liturgical Ministry Formation Days at central locations in each vicariate. These workshops had formerly been presented to individual parishes in the past two years, but the office is now consolidating the schedule to use resources more effectively.
The day will begin with a group presentation on the roots and history of liturgy and liturgical ministries, the theology of the call and response to ministry, and the liturgical documents. Members of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission will assist in the presentations. The group will then be divided to participate in the workshop for their particular ministry.
Please register by clicking the registration link above or by calling the Office of Worship at (409) 924-4300 ext. 161. Please do not call the parish.
The schedule for each Liturgical Ministry Formation Day is:
The Liturgical Ministry Formation Days will be held on the following days (all are on Saturdays).
Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance, to ensure there will be sufficient food and handouts for all attending.
The entire day's activities are provided free of charge (including workshops, refreshments, and lunch).
All of the days are open to Catholics from any vicariate.
All Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion must attend the relevant workshop presented during the Liturgical Ministry Formation Day, in keeping with Bishop Guillory's directive to pastors.
Each parish only needs to send one person responsible for training Lectors and Hospitality Ministers, who will then return to their parish and train parishioners for these ministries.
The Ministry of the Liturgy Committee workshop will not be included in the Liturgical Ministry Formation Day, but will continue to be offered upon a request from a parish.
If you have any questions or need further information, please call the Office of Worship at (409) 924-4300 x142.
