Goals and Objectives

Promote Quality Catechesis

• Provide theological and catechetical training and spiritual development for catechetical leaders, catechists, and lay ministers
• Aid pastoral staffs in developing religious education programs that meet the needs of the parishioners of all ages
• Offer adult faith formation opportunities through theological and scriptural programs (CEMI)
• Maintain and provide catechetical resources (book and media library)
• Remain current concerning theological and catechetical documents of the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops

Foster Community through Communication

• Model church by working together as a community of faith
• Collaborate with other diocesan pastoral staff in furthering the catechetical goals of the Bishop
• Sponsor activities that build community with and among catechetical leaders, through monthly gatherings and catechetical workshops
• Foster inter-parish catechetical activity where appropriate

Maintain a Pastoral Approach

• Raise awareness that ethnicity/multiculturalism has an affect on catechesis
• Promote a culturally sensitive and responsive pastoral approach in catechesis
• Provide courses and workshops in the language of the people of our diocese in culturally appropriate ways
• Provide catechetical documents and guidelines in the language of the people
