The generosity of a few benefits many

All who take advantage of retreats, meetings and workshops at Holy Family Retreat Center will benefit from the generosity of local businessmen Russell Coco and Joe Tortorice.

The two men, owners of Deli Management Company—known to most as Jason’s Deli, donated half the cost of recent renovations to the meeting rooms located in the three guest houses on the grounds of the retreat center.

The screened in porches adjacent to the meeting areas of the houses have been closed in, which increases the floor space by one-third. According to Benedictine Father Peter Funk, director of the retreat center, this allows for seating up to 60. The meeting area previously seated 32.

Bishop Guillory expressed his deep appreciation for Coco and Tortorice’s generosity in caring for the Church and its mission.

“The other day I was at Holy Family Retreat Center for a meeting and noticed the room was much larger,” said Bishop Curtis Guillory. “The expansions are so well done that, had I not known, I would not have guessed them to be expansions.”

Father Funk said the materials removed in order to allow for the renovation are being reused to screen in a side porch on each building.
